Super 23 Royale: Shooty, Shooty, Bang, Bang

Super 23 Royale is a top down, last man standing, vehicle shooter, set in an apocalyptic world. There are three planned modes.

  • Last Man Standing/ Battle Royale : 99 computer controlled players, 1 human player. Last one left wins. The environment will shrink in size with parts of the world being cut off with a grid system.
  • Survival : A wave based mode, last as long as you can against a never ending onslaught of enemy vehicles. Waves include standard enemies, as well as bosses.
  • Story : Rampage across 5 levels, destroying everything in your path. Each level consists of a set amount of enemies, and waves, as well as bosses that increase in difficulty.
There are 10 vehicles to choose from, and 15 weapon types available to customise your firepower. Special weapon pickups will drop randomly, these will consist of weapons like mines, turrets, rockets.


Development

This is a more ambitious project than my previous games. More (larger) levels, player (vehicle) selection, customisation, multiple game modes.

I've been focussing on game play development, with the help of a tool I developed to save scenes as data for a smaller file size. A post about that is available here.

The main assets utilised in Super 23 Royale are:

Arcade Vehicle Controller Link — I'm using my own vehicle controller for the movement.

A* Pathfinding Project Pro Link — Fast, reliable, AI pathfinding.

Ethreal URP Volumetric Lighting Link — Unfortunately URP (currently) doesn't have Volumetric Lighting built in, I wanted a "godray" on the main menu and this asset solved that easily.

That Hurt Link - A quick and easy way to add damage floaties to your game.
